How Does It Work?

An antenna array with distributed receiving and transmitting high-frequency (HF) antennas of a wide range is used for scanning continuous media, which probes the latter from different angles.

To detect and localize inhomogeneities, The mathematical focusing method and aperture synthesis radar technology are used to detect and localize inhomogeneities, in which all the RF signals recorded by the array are summed in phase for each given focus point.

Focusing is carried out by sequentially summing the received signals with the equalization of the time delays of the pulses scattered by a point with given coordinates. Having performed the focusing operation for each point of the selected volume of space, a three-dimensional radio image is constructed.

The focusing operation is carried out in the frequency domain using fast processing algorithms, which allows realizing three-dimensional tomograms of the investigated space in real time.
